Visit to Paypal Singapore on 26 Jul 2012

This morning, a group of DMIT staff had the privilege to visit the Paypal / EBay Singapore office in Suntec City thanks to the invitation of the Director of the User Experience Design team, Ms Anjali.

Paypal Singapore website

At the meeting, we were also very fortunate to be able to learn from the sharing by Anjali's staff (a very big team!) on various User Experience Design topics.  For example, we gained a better understanding of the type of talents that the Paypal User Experience Design team is looking for, ways that Paypal assesses its candidates being interviewed for a job, and the type of modules that should be included in a User Experience  Design curriculum.

For example, Mr Chooake shared with us that he felt a module that should be included to hone the students' skills in creating great user interfaces is "Typography".  He quoted the example of how Apple started its niche by emphasizing on beautiful and readable fonts on the Mac when it was first launched.

We were also grateful that Paypal team was willing to share their expert knowledge of user experience design with our students to develop them as there is a dearth of talent in this subject in Singapore.

Before we left, we took a group photo with the Paypal User Experience Design team at the awesome Paypal office.
